In the fast-paced world, we live in today, finding moments of tranquility and inner peace has become essential for maintaining our well-being. One of the most powerful and accessible tools at our disposal is our breath.
Yes, Breath! Something so obvious that we don’t even think about it. It is an involuntary act that sustains our lives, but when used consciously, it can be harnessed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance overall self-care.
Breathing techniques have been practiced for centuries in various cultures and spiritual traditions, and modern science has also recognized their profound impact on both physical and mental health. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply in need of a moment to center yourself, incorporating mindful breathing techniques into your daily routine can be a game-changer.
There are many effective breathing techniques that you can easily integrate into your self-care practices. Some techniques are simple to learn, require no special equipment, and can be performed anywhere, at any time. By devoting just a few minutes each day to focus on your breath, you can experience a range of benefits, from reduced stress and improved concentration to heightened self-awareness and emotional balance
However, in this article we will look at an effective and interesting breathing technique, which is gaining more and more popularity around the world.
To better understand what PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® is, because that’s what we’re talking about, I invited Olga Sochanek – a certified instructor who will answer some of the most important questions for us.
- Karolina: Hello Olga! I’ve already participated in several sessions led by you, and I must say it’s been a fascinating experience. But let’s begin with the basics – could you explain what PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® is?
- Olga: PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® is a 90-minute guided breathing practice accompanied by electronic music. The method, developed by Eva Kaczor, combines ancient breathing techniques with modern insights from neurobiology. The deep breathing and electronic music allow us to connect with ourselves, explore our identity, and find harmony with our destiny. It serves as a powerful tool for inner transformation, healing, releasing blockages, and personal growth. During the session, we experience deep relaxation and may even connect with our subconscious.
- K: What sets PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® apart from other breathing practices?
- O: The unique aspect of this method is the use of electronic music, which features slightly different rhythms compared to those typically associated with yoga or meditation. Attending a PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® session takes us on both a musical journey and an inner exploration. Additionally, each session focuses on a specific topic, aiming to inspire participants. These factors, combined with appropriate breathing techniques, enable us to reach altered states of consciousness.
- K: Who can benefit the most from practicing PSYCHEDELIC BREATH®?
- O: In reality, anyone can benefit from it, as long as there are no medical contraindications. PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® is ideal for individuals who wish to do something beneficial for their bodies and minds.
- K: What are the contraindications to PSYCHEDELIC BREATH®?
- O: PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® is a powerful technique, so there are some contraindications. These include pregnancy, cardiovascular diseases (e.g., hypertension and stroke), epilepsy, high intraocular pressure, retinal detachment, anxiety, panic attacks, psychosis, recent surgery, or wounds in the face/chest area.
- K: What should participants keep in mind during the practice?
- O: Nothing at all! Participants should simply let go and allow themselves to be carried away by the music. Throughout the session, I provide full support to all participants.
- K: How does the practice of PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® impact our health?
- O: PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® offers several positive effects on our health. It helps us better cope with stress by reducing cortisol levels and strengthening the immune system. Regular breathing work lowers blood pressure and reduces inflammation, which is the root cause of many chronic diseases. Moreover, it boosts energy levels and improves the quality of sleep.
- K: How does PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® affect our mind?
- O: The experience can vary for each person, and not every session will have the same impact. However, participants often notice a shift towards being fully present in the “here and now” without excessive analysis of the past or future. Additionally, mood improvement, a feeling of lightness, and calmness are common outcomes. PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® induces changes in brainwaves, shifting from Beta (current state) to Alpha (flow state), and sometimes even Theta or Gamma. This opens the door to our subconscious and can help release emotional blockages. By using this breathing technique, we reduce the activity of our prefrontal cortex, responsible for judgment and overthinking, and activate our creativity. Each session is unique, and individuals will have their own personal experiences during the practice.
- K: Now, would you like to share your personal PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® journey?
- O: My adventure with PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® began earlier this year when I attended a session in Warsaw as a participant. Little did I know how profoundly it would impact my life. I had already tried many other wonderful practices, but PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® captured my heart instantly. Afterward, I searched the internet to find the creator of this method and discovered an instructor training in Germany in May. It was a spontaneous decision that turned out to be one of the best choices I’ve made in my life.
- K: How was the training experience?
- O: The instructor training was an exceptional experience marked by high professionalism. I opted for the in-person version of the training, which involved several stages. First, there were online classes, followed by practical sessions with an assigned mentor and another course participant. The culmination was a week-long convention in Germany, where we immersed ourselves in every aspect of the classes. This week was like a retreat, filled with various self-discovery activities, such as sessions with LEGO bricks and Human Design personality analysis. We practiced alongside a wonderful group of future instructors, enjoyed time in the sauna, relished delicious vegetarian food, and shared a lot of positive energy. After returning, the final stage involved conducting training sessions, leading to a final call with the method’s creator, Eva Kaczor, and certification.
- K: It sounds like a wonderful approach – first delving into self-discovery and then guiding others on their journey. For those interested, where can they find you?
- O: For now, the best place to find me is on Instagram at @olasochanek. I’ve also set up a fun page on Facebook, though it’s still in its early stages: Olga.Sochanek. I regularly post updates about upcoming sessions, so feel free to check them out. The next sessions are scheduled for 03/08 in Warsaw (Żoliborz) and 16.08.
- K: Thank you so much for this interview, Olga! Looking forward to attending your next session!
